Whether you’re a past patient of Restart’s, or currently see Restart for treatment, I greatly value and appreciate the trust that you have placed in my Team and I to support and guide you towards your health and wellness goals. The opportunity to assist you is something that we are consciously grateful for.
The purpose of my letter to you today is to notify of an upcoming increase to our appointment fees.
Before going any further, I must share that this is not a decision taken lightly. I share the sentiment with many when I understand that the rising cost of living and inflation is having avery real pinch on many of us. Unfortunately, owning and operating a business is not excluded from such rising costs – rent, wages, insurances, subscriptions, equipment, advertising and marketing, the list goes on.
There are three main reasons for an increase to our fees, of which I would like to provide context for and discuss.
1. Talent acquisition and team retention
The profession of Exercise Physiology has seen greater recognition and growth over the past decade. This is leading to more positions becoming available, often within large, nation-wide organisations. Above industry-average salary packages are more readily available (something that is great for our profession), which, as a smaller business, can make it increasingly challenging to retain and maintain staff.
Restart as an organisation thrives when we have a stable team, which contributes strongly towards continuity of care and patient satisfaction. My goal as a business owner is to both maintain my existing team and incorporate additional high-quality practitioners, to make tangible progress towards our organisational cause of improving our patient’s, and community’s, health-span and quality of life.
2. More comparable with fellow local providers
Having had two price increases since 2021, both of which equated to approximately 5% to reflect the yearly increase to the pay award rates for health practitioners, market research shows that we are below the fees that fellow local exercise physiology providers (I avoid the term competitors as we share common organisational goals in terms of helping people) ask in payment.
We know our value as a team, and currently collectively share 27 years of industry experience! A price increase beyond the rate mentioned above will bring Restart in line with fellow providers and ensure that we are not less than the market average.
3. Incorporating new technology and improving our standards of servicing
Recent investments in new technology mean changes to monthly expenditure. Our plans are to make the integration of new technology a regular occurrence at Restart to provide you with the best treatment experience possible.
Additionally, as a team we are constantly seeking professional development opportunities, both in-house and via external sources. Know that your hard-earned dollars will help to further support our thirst for knowledge as practitioners, and enable us to access the best information to improve our standards of servicing.
